Shekla
Bhat Na Shekla are prepared using leftover rice. This leftover rice recipe is very easy to make and requires very few ingredients. It has a nice spicy and crunchy taste. This Gujarati visarati vangi is a perfect dish to prepare for dinner. Gujarati Shekla can also be prepared for breakfast. This recipe is prepared using very less oil and hence it is a healthy less oil recipe.

Recipe:
Ingredients:

  • 1.5 Cups of Leftover Rice
  • 3/4 Cup Gram Flour (Besan)
  • 1/4 Cup Fine Semolina (Suji)
  • 3-4 Teaspoons of Curd (Dahi)
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoons of Green Chilli (Hari Mirch) Paste
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • Sesame Seeds (Safed Til)
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. In a mixing bowl add fine semolina, gram flour, leftover rice, curd and mix well.
  2. Add turmeric powder, green chilli paste and mix it. Add water and prepare a thick batter. You will require around 1/2 cup water.
  3. Heat tawa and spread some oil. You will require less oil for cooking shekla. Pour the batter and prepare mini sheklas.
  4. Make a hole in centre and sprinkle some sesame seeds. Cover it and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add some oil in the hole, turn it and cook the other side. Cover it again and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Turn it and tasty sheklas are ready.
