Cheese Khichdi
Khichdi is a very traditional Gujarati dish. Today we will make this Gujarati Khichdi recipe in a different way.   • 1.5 Cups of Washed Rice
  • 1/2 Cup of Green Moong Dal
  • 1 Cup Green Peas (Matar)
  • 1 Cup Spinach (Palak) Puree
  • 3-4 Finely Chopped Spring Onion Bulbs
  • Finely Chopped Spring Onion Greens
  • 10-12 Finely Chopped Garlic Cloves (Lehsun)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Green Chilli (Hari Mirch) Paste
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • Cheese
  • Ghee


  1. Heat some ghee in pressure cooker. Add finely chopped garlic cloves and sauté it well.
  2. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Stir it.
  3. Add finely chopped spring onions bulb. Sauté it well.
  4. Add green chilli paste and fry it well.
  5. Add spinach puree and green peas. Sauté it well for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Add washed rice and washed green moong dal. Stir well.
  7. Add salt and water as per requirement. Mix well. Add some ghee and close the lid of pressure cooker. Pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.
  8. After cooker cools down, garnish it with spring onion greens and cheese. Cheese Hariyali Khichdi is ready.
