Dakhliyu is a very traditional Gujarati recipe. This Gujarati visarati vangi is a prepared during the winter season. This recipe is also known by the name tuvar lilva kadhi. This Gujarati recipe is prepared using lilva tuvar. I have used green garlic in preparation of this recipe which makes it tastier. You can enjoy this traditional Gujarati recipe with bajra no rotlo or even with recipe. In this winter season do try out this Gujarati recipe.

Recipe:
Ingredients:

  • 250 Grams of Lilva Tuvar
  • 1 Cup Buttermilk (Chaas)
  • ½ Cup of Green Garlic (Hara Lehsun)
  • 8-10 Green Chillies (Hari Mirch)
  • 1-1.5 Inch of Ginger (Adrak)
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds (Rai)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ¼ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 8-10 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • ½ Teaspoon Garam Masala
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil

Procedure:

  1. Boil lilva tuvar in pressure cooker for 3 whistles. Add salt while boiling it. Mash it after it boils well.
  2. In a mixer cup add green chilies, ginger and green garlic. Prepare a paste.
  3. Heat oil in a kadhai. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and asafoetida. Stir it.
  4. Add turmeric powder and stir.
  5. Add the prepared green chilli-ginger-garlic paste and sauté it well.
  6. Add curry leaves.
  7. Add garam masala and mix well.
  8. Add boiled and mashed lilva tuvar. Stir well. Add salt as per taste and water. Mix it.
  9. Let it boil well. Now add buttermilk and stir it continuously. Switch off the gas. Garnish it with coriander leaves. Dakhliyu is ready.
