Ingredients:
  • For Boiling Dal:
  • 1.5 Cups Tur Dal
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Hali)
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
For Making Dal:
  • 1-2 Finely Chopped Onion
  • 2 Finely Chopped Tomato
  • 2 Finely Chopped Green Chilies (Hari Mirch)
  • 4-5 Finely Chopped Garlic Cloves (Lehsun)
  • 1-1.5 Finely Chopped Ginger (Adrak)
  • 2 Dried Red Chilies (Sukhi Lal Mirch)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Red Chili (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
For Tadka:
  • 5-6 Finely Chopped Garlic Cloves (Lehsun)
  • 1 Teaspoon Kashmiri Red Chili (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • Ghee
Procedure:
  1. Soak tur dal for 2-3 hours.
  2. In a pressure cooker place a tapela and add tur dal, water, turmeric powder and salt. Add little oil and pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles.
  3. Whisk the boiled dal well.
  4. Now in a kadhai heat some oil add cumin seed, dried red chilies, finely chopped garlic cloves, finely chopped ginger, finely chopped green chilies and sauté it well.
  5. Add finely chopped onion and stir till it turns golden brown.
  6. Add finely chopped tomato and cook till if softens. Add salt to cook them quickly.
  7. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, dhana jeera powder and salt. Mix well.
  8. Add boiled dal and stir well.
  9. Add water it required. Let it come to a boil.
  10. Add coriander leaves.
  11. For tadka heat some ghee and add garlic cloves. Stir till it becomes golden brown. Switch off the gas and add Kashmiri red chili powder. Stir well and pour the tadka over the dal. Dal Fry recipe is ready.
