  • 2-2.5 Cups of Washed Rice
  • 150-200 Grams Green Peas (Matar)
  • 2 Lengthwise Chopped Potatoes/li>
  • 1 Chopped Tomato
  • 1-2 Chopped Onions
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoon Ginger-Garlic (Adrak-Lehsun) Paste
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds (Rai)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • 2-3 Bay Leaves (Tej Patta)
  • 8-10 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks (Dalchini)
  • 4-5 Cloves (Laung)
  • 4-5 Black Peppercorns (Sabut Kali Mirch)
  • 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • ½ Teaspoon Garam Masala
  • ¼ Teaspoon Cinnamon-Cloves (Dalchini-Laung) Powder
  • Grated Coconut (Nariyal)
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. Heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, bay leaves, curry leaves, cinnamon, cloves and black peppercorns. Stir well.
  2. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté it well.
  3. Add turmeric powder and stir well.
  4. Now add chopped onions and stir till it turns transparent.
  5. Add chopped potatoes and green peas. Mix well.
  6. Add garam masala and cinnamon-cloves powder. Mix well.
  7. Add rice and mix well.
  8. Add water as per requirement and salt as per taste and mix well.
  9. After a boil add tomato and close lid of pressure cooker. Cook for 2-3 whistles.
  10. Garnish it with grated coconut and coriander leaves.
  11. Vatana Bhat is ready to eat.
