Bataka Nu Rassavalu Shaak is a traditional Gujarati recipe without which any Gujarati thali is incomplete. This recipe is a quick recipe to make and consists of cubed potatoes cooked in spicy gravy. The masala for the recipe consists of curry leaves, red chillies, mustard seeds and Gujarati Dal Shaak Masala.   • 10-12 Cubed Potatoes
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • ½ Teaspoon Hing
  • 3-4 Dried Red Chillies
  • 10-12 Curry Leaves
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 2 Teaspoon Coriander-Cumin Seed Powder (Dhana Jeera)
  • 2 Teaspoons Red Chilli Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Jaggery
  • 1 Teaspoon Dal Shaak Masala
  • Salt
  • Water
Method –
  1. Heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, dried red chillies and curry leaves. Stir well.
  2. Now, add turmeric powder, dhana-jeera powder, red chilli powder and mix well.
  3. Add diced potatoes and mix well. Cook for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add salt as per taste.
  5. Add water as per requirement and mix well.
  6. Add Dal Shaak Masala and jaggery.
  7. Top it with some coriander leaves and recipe is ready.
