Lili Tuvar Bataka Nu Shaak
Lili Tuvar Bataka Nu Shaak is a very traditional and tasty Gujarati recipe which is prepared during the winter season. I have prepared this Lilva Nu Shaak in a slightly different and quick way. I have boiled the lilva tuvar before making the shaak which makes the process fast. You can enjoy this Gujarati shaak with phulka rotli. Recipe:
Ingredients:

  • 250 Grams of Lilva Tuvar
  • 3 Diced Potatoes
  • Puree of 1 Tomato
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Green Chili-Garlic Paste
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds (Rai)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 3/4 Teaspoon Kitchen King Masala
  • Salt
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. Boil lilva tuvar with salt.
  2. Heat oil in kadhai and add mustard seeds, asafoetida and green chilli-garlic paste. Sauté it well.
  3. Add diced potatoes and stir well. Add salt as per taste. Close lid and cook potatoes for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add tomato puree and cook it.
  5. Add turmeric powder, dhana jeera powder, red chilli powder and kitchen king masala. Mix well.
  6. Add boiled lilva tuvar along with water. Mix well. Let it boil and close lid. Cook for 3 minutes.
  7. Add some coriander leaves and Lili Tuvar Nu Shaak is ready.
