Khato Lot
Khato Lot is a Gujarati Visarati Vangi. It is a very traditional recipe which is made in every Gujarati household. This recipe will definitely remind you of your grandmother cooking this tasty Gujarati Khato Lot in kitchen and topping it with some peanut oil and chatpata pickle masala. Khato Lot can be prepared using coarse wheat flour or gram flour. As gram flour or besan is easily available at our home I will prepare it using gram flour. Recipe:
Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Gram Flour (Besan)
  • 1.5 Cup of Buttermilk (Chaas)
  • 2-3 Tablespoons of Water
  • 8-10 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Green Chilli-Ginger-Garlic (Hari Mirch-Adrak-Lehsun) Paste
  • 1-2 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • Salt
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Peanut Oil
  • Pickle Masala (Athano No Masalo)
Procedure:
  1. Heat some oil in a kadhai. Preferably use peanut oil.
  2. Add cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chilli-ginger-garlic paste and stir well for 2 minutes.
  3. Add some water and stir till it heats up.
  4. Now turn the gas low and add buttermilk. Stir it and close lid for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt.
  6. Add gram flour mix well. Close lid for 3-5 minutes till the flour cooks well.
  7. Add some coriander leaves and mix well. 8. In a serving plate serve the khato lot and top it with peanut oil and pickle masala. Gujarati Visarati vangi Khato Lot is ready.
