Recipe:
Ingredeints:
  • 1 Cup Vadi
  • 2 Finely Chopped Onions
  • 2 Finely Chopped Tomatoes
  • 2-3 Finely Chopped Green Chilies (Hari Mirch)
  • 8-10 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • 2 Bay Leaves (Tej Patta)
  • 2 Dried Red Chillies (Sukhi Lal Mirch)
  • 4-5 Cloves (Laung)
  • 4-5 Black Peppercorns (Sabut Kali Mirch)
  • 2-3 Cinnamon Sticks (Dalchini)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Garam Masala
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Water
For Paste:
  • 8-10 Garlic Cloves (Lehsun)
  • 1-1.5 Inch of Ginger (Adrak)
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
Procedure:
  1. In a pressure cooker take some water. Place a utensil in it. Add vadi and pour water to boil the vadi in the utensil. Close lid and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.
  2. In a mixer cup take garlic cloves, ginger, red chilli powder and coriander leaves. Grind it into a paste.
  3. Heat some oil and add bay leaves, dried red chilies, cloves, black peppercorns and cinnamon sticks. Add finely chopped onion. Stir till onions turn golden brown.
  4. Add curry leaves and green chilies. Sauté it well.
  5. Add finely chopped tomatoes and cook well.
  6. Add turmeric powder, dhana jeera powder and red chilli powder. Add the prepared masala and mix well. Close lid and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add boiled vadas along with the water used to boil it. Add more water if required. Add garam masala, salt and coriander leaves. Mix well. Vadi Nu Shaak is ready.
