In this Kobi Nu Shaak recipe, I have prepared a green masala which makes this recipe spicy and also, I have added masoor dal which gives a nice taste to this Gujarati shaak recipe.   • 250-300 Grams of Lengthwise Chopped Cabbage (Pata Gobi)
  • ½ Cup Soaked Masoor Dal
  • 1 Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1 Chopped Tomato
  • 8-10 Garlic Cloves (Lehsun)
  • 8-10 Green Chilies (Hari Mirch)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Oil


  1. Soak masoor dal for around 30 minutes.
  2. In a mixer add garlic cloves, green chilies, cumin seeds and some coriander leaves. Grind it coarsely.
  3. Heat oil and add asafoetida and the prepared paste. Stir it well.
  4. Add finely chopped onion. Stir till it turns transparent.
  5. Add turmeric powder and soaked masoor dal. Stir for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add lengthwise chopped cabbage and mix it.
  7. Add salt and mix well. Close lid and cook for 3-5 minutes.
  8. Add finely chopped tomato and coriander leaves. Mix well. Close lid and cook for 2 minutes.
  9. Kobi Nu Shaak is ready.
