Ukadiche Modak
Ukadhiche Modak is a popular Mahrashtrian recipe prepared on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. This easy modak recipe is prepared with very few ingredients and with right measurements this recipe can be prepared perfectly. The saran of this ukadiche modak consists of jaggery and coconut. Ukadiche Modak Recipe Video :


For Covering:
  • 2 Cups of Water
  • 2 Cups of Rice Flour (Chawal ka Atta)
  • 1 Teaspoon Ghee
  • Salt
For Stuffing:
  • 2 Cups of Grated Coconut (Nariyal)
  • 1 Cup Jaggery (Gud)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cardamom (Elaichi) Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Ghee
  1. Heat water and add salt, ghee and let it boil.
  2. Add rice flour. Switch off gas and stir till water is absorbed. Close lid and let it be for 5 minutes.
  3. For stuffing heat some ghee and roast the grated coconut for 2 minutes. Add jaggery and stir till it melts and mixes with the grated coconut. Add cardamom powder.
  4. Let the stuffing cool down completely. 5. Meanwhile take the rice mixture in a plate and knead it well.
  5. Apply some ghee to your palms and take a portion of the dough. Make a small bowl out of it. Pinch the edges. Add the stuffing and close the pinched edges to give it a shape of a modak. Prepare all the modaks similarly.
  6. In a deep bottomed utensil heat some water. Place a hole sieve over it. Place a banana leaf and grease it with ghee. Place the modaks and steam it on medium gas for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Ukadhiche Modak is ready, top it with some ghee.
