Mag Ni Dal

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups of Washed Moong Dal
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1 Chopped Tomato
  • 4-5 Green Chilies (Hari Mirch)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ¾ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 10-12 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • 8-10 Lengthwise Chopped Garlic Cloves (Lehsun)
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. In a pressure cooker add moong dal, turmeric powder, salt and tomato. Add water as per requirement. Add 1 teaspoon oil. Close lid and cook for 3 whistles.
  2. In a mixer coarsely grind coriander leaves and green chilies.
  3. Heat some oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves. Add lengthwise chopped garlic cloves. Stir till garlic becomes golden brown.
  4. Add the prepared paste and stir.
  5. Add the boiled dal and mix well. Add salt as per taste and water. Let the dal boil for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Now in a small utensil heat some oil and dried red chilies. Add this tadka over dal. Mag Ni Dal is ready.
