Jowar Dhebra
Jowar Na Dhebra is a very healthy Gujarati dish and is very good during the summer season. Gujarati Dhebra recipe can be prepared for breakfast or even for dinner. You can enjoy Dhebra with pickle or even with curd. We have added tomatoes and onions to this tasty Dhebra recipe in Gujarati to make it tastier and yummier. If you prefer to store this Dhebra for long time you can avoid adding tomatoes and onions.

Jowar Dhebra Recipe Video :

  • 2 Cups of Jowar Flour
  • 1-2 Teaspoon Gram Flour (Besan)
  • 1 Cup Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • 1 Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1 Finely Chopped Tomato
  • 8-10 Garlic Cloves (Lehsun)
  • 8-10 Green Chilies (Hari Mirch)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • 1 Teaspoon Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Sesame Seeds (Safed Til)
  • ¼ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
  • Ghee


  1. In a mixer cup add cumin seeds, garlic cloves and green chilies. Grind it.
  2. Now in a mixing bowl add coriander leaves, onions, tomato, 1-2 teaspoon previously prepared paste, asafoetida, gram flour, jowar flour, carom seeds, sesame seeds, salt and mix it.
  3. Add some water and knead a soft dough. Apply some oil and make the dough smooth. Cover it and let it rest for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Take a wet cloth and over it place a portion of the dough and flatten it. Make 3 holes in the dhebra.
  5. Grease tawa with ghee and place the dhebra to cook. Pour some ghee in the holes and on the sides. Place some sesame seeds over the dhebra . Cover it and cook for 3-5 minutes. Turn it and cook the other side. While cooking the other side you can avoid covering it. Jowar Na Dhebra are ready.
