Karela Nu Shaak Gujarati
Karela or Bitter Gourd is not liked by everyone but it is very nutritious and important for our body. Today I will make Karela Nu Shaak in a different way such that the bitterness of the bitter gourd becomes almost negligible. In this Gujarati Karela Nu Shaak I have deep fried the Karela to make it crispy and reduce the bitterness. This is a very simple recipe of Karela and is very tasty. Recipe: Ingredients:
  • 300 Grams Sliced Bitter Gourd (Karela)
  • 2 Lengthwise Chopped Onion
  • 8-10 Finely Chopped Garlic Cloves (Lehsun)
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds (Rai)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Red Chili (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • Juice of ½ Lemon
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. Boil some water and add the sliced bitter gourd. Add salt and lemon juice. Mix well and let the bitter gourd boil. This will take around 15-20 minutes.
  2. Drain the water from the butter gourd slices and deep fry them. Make it crispy and golden brown.
  3. Heat very less oil and add garlic cloves. Sauté it well.
  4. Add mustard seeds and lengthwise chopped onions. Make the onions nice golden brown.
  5. Add turmeric powder, dhana jeera powder, red chili powder and salt. Mix well.
  6. Add boiled and fried bitter gourd and mix well.
  7. Add sugar and mix well. Cook it for 3-5 minutes. Tasty Karela Nu Shaak is ready.
