Pulao is a very popular Indian recipe. In this recipe we will make tomato pulao. This one pot recipe for dinner is very easy to make and is a tasty vegetarian pulao recipe. In this Indian rice recipe I have added coriander leaves and mint leaves which gives a nice taste to this one pot Indian recipe. - 1.5 Cup of Washed Rice
- 4 Diced Tomatoes
- 1 Sliced Onion
- 12-15 Cashew Nuts (Kaju)
- 2 Lengthwise Chopped Green Chilies (Hari Mirch)
- 1.5-2 Teaspoon Ginger-Garlic (Adrak-Lehsun) Paste
- 5-6 Black Peppercorns (Sabut Kali Mirch)
- 4-5 Cloves (Laung)
- 2-3 Cinnamon Sticks (Dalchini)
- 2-3 Bay Leaves (Tej Patta)
- 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
- ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
- 1-1.5 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
- 1.5-2 Teaspoon Red Chili (Lal Mirch) Power
- 1 Teaspoon Sugar
- Mint Leaves (Pudina)
- Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
- Salt
- Water
- Ghee
- Heat some ghee in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds, black peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves and sliced onion. Stir till it turns transparent.
- Add green chilies, ginger-garlic paste and sauté it well.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, dhana jeera powder and mix well. Add cashew nuts and fry them well.
- Add tomatoes and stir well. Make sure they don’t become too soft.
- Add washed rice and mix well. Add coriander leaves and mint leaves and mix well.
- Add salt, sugar and water. Stir well. Add some 2-3 teaspoons ghee and mix well.
- Close lid and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Tomato Pulao is ready.
