Onion Rava Masala Dosa | Instant Masala Dosa | Gujarati Rasoi

Dosa recipe is an all time favorite South Indian dish. Rava Dosa is very quick to make and today we will make Onion Rava Masala Dosa. This dosa require no fermentation and the dosa batter can be prepared instantly. The masala of dosa consists of potatoes cooked in some South Indian condiments and spices and to elevate the taste we have added some cashew nuts. For Batter:
  • 1 Cup Semolina (Rava)
  • ½ Cup Plain Flour (Maida)
  • ½ Cup Curd (Dahi)
  • 1 Finely Chopped Onion
  • ½ Cup Chopped Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • 8-10 Finely Chopped Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • 2-3 Finely Chopped Green Chilies (Hari Mirch)
  • Salt
  • Water
For Masala:
  • 3 Boiled & Mashed Potatoes
  • 1 Sliced Onion
  • 10-12 Cashew Nuts (Kaju)
  • 4-5 Finely Chopped Green Chilies (Hari Mirch)
  • ½ Inch Grated Ginger (Adarak)
  • 8-10 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds (Rai)
  • ¼ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • Juice of ½ Lemon
  • Salt
Procedure:
  1. In a mixing bowl take semolina, plain flour, finely chopped onion, finely chopped green chilies, finely chopped curry leaves, curd, chopped coriander leaves, salt and mix well. Add water and prepare a thin batter. Let the batter rest for 10-15 minutes.
  2. For masala heat oil and add mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, cashew nuts, chopped green chilies and grated ginger. Stir well.
  3. Now add sliced onion and let it turn transparent.
  4. Add turmeric powder and mix well. Now add boiled & mashed potatoes, salt and mix well. Cook it for a while.
  5. Add lemon juice and mix well. Our masala is ready. Let it cool down.
  6. Now check the batter whether it is ready or not. If the batter is thick add water and make it thin.
  7. Now preheat a tawa and then sprinkle some water on it. Wipe the water with a cloth. Perform this procedure every time you make a dosa. Pour the batter and prepare the dosa. Add some ghee on top to cook the dosa well. 
  8. Once the dosa is done, add the masala. Fold the dosa and our Onion Rava Masala Dosa is ready.
