Recipe:
Ingredients:
  • 1 Cup Tur Dal
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ¼ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • Salt
Procedure:
  1. Wash tur dal and boil it in a pressure cooker for 4-5 whistles. While boiling it add 3-4 cups of water for 1 cup tur dal.
  2. In an utensil heat some ghee and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, turmeric powder and add the dal portion of the boiled dal, don’t add the water. Stir well.
  3. Add salt and sugar. Mix well and cook till it thickens. Gujarati Lachko Dal is ready. Serve it with rice, ghee and kadhi.
