Lilva No Bhaat - Gujarati Lilva Rice Recipe - Gujarati Rasoi Recipes

Lilva Nu Bhaat is a very easy rice recipe to make for dinner. This simple rice recipe is prepared in cooker. The tuver na lilva are cooked with some traditional spices and with some potatoes and tomatoes. We have added some grated coconut to this recipe to give a nice flavor of coconut. The dried spices give a nice taste to this rice recipe.

Ingredients:
  • 1 Cup Tuvar
  • 2 Cups of Rice
  • 2 Finely Chopped Onions
  • 1 Finely Chopped Tomato
  • 1 Diced Potato
  • 1-2 Teaspoon Grinded Dried Coconut (Sukka Nariyal)
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoon Ginger-Garlic (Adrak-Lehsun) Paste
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • 2 Bay Leaves (Tej Patta)
  • 2-3 Cinnamon Sticks (Dalchini)
  • 5-6 Black Peppercorns (Sabut Kali Mirch)
  • 5-6 Cloves (Laung)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Red Chili (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Garam Masala
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds, bay leaves, black peppercorns, cloves and sauté it well.
  2. Add chopped onions and stir till it turns golden brown.
  3. Add finely chopped tomato, diced potato and tuvar. Sauté the vegetables well.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste, grinded dried coconut and stir well. 
  5. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala and mix well. Add rice and stir well.
  6. Add salt and water. Mix well and cook for 2 whistles. Lilva No Bhaat is ready.
