Masala Idli Fry Mumbai Style - Mumbai Street Food - Street Food India

Today we will make street style Idli Fry recipe. This recipe is a popular delicacy found on the streets of Mumbai. Onions and tomatoes are cooked in butter with some simple masalas and then pieces of Idlis are tossed in it. You can prepare this recipe from leftover Idlis.

Ingredients:
  • Idlis
  • 1 Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1 Finely Chopped Tomato
  • 8-10 Crushed Garlic Cloves (Lehsun)
  • 8-10 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Chili (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Sambar Masala
  • Juice of ½ Lemon
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • 2 Teaspoons Butter
Procedure:
  1. Cut idli into 4 pieces.
  2. Now melt some butter in pan and add crushed garlic cloves, curry leaves and finely chopped onion. Stir well till onion turns transparent.
  3. Add finely chopped tomato and stir till it becomes soft.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, sambar masala and some coriander leaves. Mix well.
  5. Add idli pieces and stir well. Add lemon juice and salt. Mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Garnish it with some coriander leaves and Masala Idli Fry is ready.
