Punjabi Flower Bataka Nu Shaak - Punjabi Recipe - Gujarati Rasoi

Today we will make Flower Batata Nu Shaak Punjabi style. This recipe is also known as Vyah De Aloo which is often prepared during Punjabi wedding. In this recipe we will shallow fry the potatoes and cauliflower before cooking them in a simple masala. This recipe is very simple and is extremely tasty. Ingredients:
  • 250- 300 Grams of Cauliflower (Phool Gobi)
  • 2 Diced Potatoes
  • Puree of 3-4 Tomatoes
  • 1 Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1.5- 2 Teaspoons of Ginger- Garlic (Adrak- Lehsun) Paste
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1- 1.5 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoon Red Chili (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • ½ -3/4 Teaspoon Garam Masala 
  • ½ Teaspoon Chaat Masala
  • Salt
Procedure:
  1. Shallow fry diced potatoes and remove them in a bowl.
  2. Shallow fry diced cabbage and remove them in a bowl.
  3. Now in an utensil heat some oil and add cumin seeds, asafoetida and chopped onion. Stir till onion turns golden brown.
  4. Now add ginger- garlic paste and stir well.
  5. Add tomato puree and stir well. Close lid and cook the puree well.
  6. Add turmeric powder, dhana jeera powder and red chili powder. Mix well.
  7. Add fried potatoes and cauliflower. Add salt and mix well. Close lid and cook for 15 minutes.
  8. Now add garam masala and chaat masala. Mix well. Flower Batata Nu Shaak is ready.
