Chevdo Recipe - Gujarati Chevdo for Diwali - Gujarati Rasoi Diwali Recipes

Diwali is incomplete without the traditional Chevdo. This Pauva no Chevdo is very easy to make and can be stored for a longer period of  time in an air tight container.  We have used thin poha in this chevdo along with peanuts, dried coconut, dalia and some traditional masalas. Recipe:
Ingredients:
  • 500 Grams Thin Poha
  • Peanuts
  • ½ Cup of Split Chana Dal (Dalia)
  • ½ Cup of Lengthwise Chopped Dried Coconut (Sukka Nariyal)
  • 8-10 Green Chilies (Hari Mirch)
  • 20-25 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 3-4 Teaspoon Chevdo Masala (Optional)
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoon Sugar
  • Salt
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. Roast the poha and remove it in a mixing bowl
  2. Heat some oil and fry the peanuts and remove them in the same bowl. Similarly fry dalia and dried coconut. Add all the ingredients in the bowl.
  3. Now reduce the oil and chopped green chilies and curry leaves. Fry them till they turn crispy. Now reduce the flame and add turmeric powder and stir well.
  4. Now switch off the gas & stir till it cools down little bit. Add chevdo masala and mix well.
  5. Add this mixture to the poha.
  6. Add sugar and salt. Mix well and our chevdo is ready.
