Chana Masala Recipe - Chana Nu Shaak - Gujarati Rasoi

In this recipe video we will make Chana Nu Shaak or Chana Masala recipe. This chana masala recipe is very easy to prepare can be an excellent recipe to make for lunch. You can enjoy this shaak with either with puri or phulka roti.

Ingredients:
  • 100-150 Soaked Chana
  • 2 Onions
  • 2 Chopped Tomatoes
  • 8-10 Garlic Cloves (Lehsun)
  • 1-1.5 Inch of Ginger (Adrak)
  • 3-4 Bay Leaves (Tej Patta)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Dried Fenugreek Leaves (Kasuri Methi)
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. In a mixer add ginger, garlic, tomatoes and onions. Prepare a paste.
  2. Now in a pressure cooker heat some oil and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, bay leaves and the prepared paste. Fry the paste well.
  3. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, dhana jeera powder, garam masala and kasuri methi. Stir the masalas well.
  4. Now add the soaked chanas and mix well. I have soaked the chanas for 4-5 hours. Stir on a slow flame.
  5. Add salt and water. Mix well. Now pressure cook for 8-10 whistles.
  6. Now add coriander leaves and our Chana nu Shaak is ready.
