Kathyawadi Marcha Na Bhajiya Recipe - Patti Bhajiya Recipe - Gujarati Bhajiya

Kathyawadi Marcha Na Bhajiya also known as Patti Bhajiya is a crispy, spicy and flavoursome bhajiya recipe to enjoy with a cup of tea on a rainy day. In this recipe we will be using the Vadavani Marcha and we will cut it into strips. Cutting the chilli into strips gives a crispy and crunchy texture to the bhajiyas. You can these bhajiyas with tradtional Guajrati kadhi chutney or with tomato ketchup. Try out this recipe and let us know about the taste.

Ingredients:
  • 10-12 Vadvani Mirch
  • ¾ Cup Gram Flour (Besan)
  • 1 Tablespoon of Rice Flour (Chawal Ka Atta)
  • ½ Cup Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • 1-1.5 Inch Grated Ginger (Adrak)
  • 1 Teaspoon Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • Salt
Procedure:
  1. Remove the stem of the vadvani mirch and deseed them. Cut the mirch into four long pieces and further cut these pieces into 3-4 equal strips. Our pattis are ready.
  2. Take these pattis in a mixing bowl, add carom seeds, lemon juice, coriander leaves and salt. Mix them well  till the mirch becomes moist.
  3. Now add turmeric powder, asafoetida, grated ginger and rice flour. Mix well.
  4. Add gram flour and water gradually to get the right consistency. The consistency should be less runny and should cover the mirch properly.
  5. Heat some oil and fry the mirch covered with the batter. Fry them well and Marcha Bhajiya are ready.
