Gujarati Instant Fada Lapsi - Traditional Gujarati Sweet Recipe

Gehun Na Fada or Dalia is very healthy and nutritious. Gujarati cuisine consists of a sweet delicacy prepared from dalia known as Fada Lapsi. Lapsi is traditionally prepared in pure ghee with some cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and some dry fruits. This Gujarati sweet is very healthy for growing kids and is extremely delicious. Ingredients:
  • 1 Cup Broken Wheat ( Dalia / Gehun Na Fada )
  • 3.5 Cups of Water
  • 1 Cup of Sugar
  • 5-6 Cardamom ( Elaichi )
  • 3-4 Cinnamon Sticks ( Dalchini )
  • 2-3 Cloves ( Laung )
  • Raisins ( Kishmish )
  • Almonds ( Badam )
  • ½ Teaspoon Cardamom ( Elaichi ) Powder
  • ¼ Teaspoon Nutmeg ( Jaiphal ) Powder
  • Ghee

Procedure:
  1. Heat some ghee in pressure cooker and add cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and broken wheat. Stir till the broken wheat changes colour. Stir on a medium flame.
  2. Now add some raisins and some almonds. Stir well.
  3. Add around 3.5 cups of water for 1 cup of broken wheat and stir till it starts to boil.
  4. Now add sugar dissolve it well. Close the pressure cooker and cook for 2-3 whistles.
  5. After it is cooked add cardamom powder and nutmeg powder. Stir well and Gujarati Fada Lapsi is ready to eat.
