Sev Usal Recipe is a deeply guarded secret by the owners of Mahakali Sev Usal but we have tried to decode this delicious recipe of Vadodara. Sev Usal is prepared from boiled vatana (dried green peas) cooked in a gravy consisting of tomato puree, ginger-garlic paste, onion paste and some traditional Masalas. The special masala which goes into this recipe is the traditional Dal Shaak masasla. Dal Shaak masala is similar to garam masala but has the Gujarati touch to it. This masala takes the taste of Sev Usal to another level. Sev Usal is cooked well.

Then it is served in a bowl topped with some onions, some spring onions, coriander leaves and sev. Most importantly it is topped with sev usal tari. This tari recipe conists of red chilli, ginger and garlic which is tempered with hot oil. The hot oil releases the spiciness of the ingredients and infuses it into the oil mixture. Puneri Misal Pav Recipe

Puneri Misal is like a sister of our yummy treat of Vadodara Sev Usal. By appearance both seems to be similar with elements like pav, chopped onions, some farsan and presence of pulses. But looks can be deceiving. Both of them have totally different taste and you cannot compare which is better because both of them are tasty and most importantly they are dominantly spicy.
Puneri Misal is prepared from mixed sprouts. The garvy of misal pav is prepared using onions, dried coconut, green chillies, garlic and ginger, The gravy is cooked in a tadka of mustard seeds and curry leaves. Presence of coconut gives a different taste to this authentic Maharashtrian recipe of misal pav. Similar to Sev Usal this gravy is served in a plate and topped with chopped onions, fresh coriander and some farsan. So squeeze some lemon and enjoy this fantastic lip-smacking recipe.
