Nothing beats batata na bhajiya in the rainy season. This batata na bhajiya recipe in Gujarati is without soda and is prepared little bit differently. Addition of condiments like cumin seeds, carom seeds and black pepper enhances the taste of this simple bhajiya recipe. Also adding hot oil to the batter makes the bhajiya fluffy and yummy to eat. Enjoy these batata bhajiya in the rains of gujarat with tomato sauce or green chutney and don’t forget to accompany it with some fried green chilies.

Ingredients:
  • Sliced Potatoes
  • 2 Cups of Gram Flour (Besan)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Chili (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Black Pepper (Kali Mirch) Powder
  • ¾ Teaspoon Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
Procedure: 
  1. In a mixing bowl add gram flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, carom seeds and salt. Mix well and then add water to prepare the batter for bhajiyas. The batter should neither be too thin or too thick.
  2. Slice the potatoes and place them in water to avoid them from turning black.
  3. Heat oil in a kadhai and add 2-3 teaspoons of hot oil to the batter and mix well.
  4. Dip the potato slices in the batter and fry the bhajiyas in hot oil.
  5. Fry them well from all sides. Batata na bhajiyas are ready.
