Bharela Parval Nu Shaak - Gujarati Parval Nu Shaak - Traditional Gujarati Recipes

Bharela Parval is a traditional Gujarati recipe. Parval nu shaak is very tasty and can be an excellent everyday recipe. Ingredients:
  • 250 Grams of Pointed Gourd (Parwal)
  • 2 Tablespoon Gram Flour (Besan)
  • 1-1.5 Tablespoons of Crushed Dried Coconut (Suka Nariyal)
  • 1-1.5 Tablespoon Roasted Peanut (Singdana) Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Sesame Seeds (Safed Til)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoon Red Chili (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • ½ - ¾ Teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • Salt
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. Remove the stem of the pointed gourd (parval) and peel them. Make a slit in the parval and remove the seeds in a bowl.
  2. Now to the removed seeds add gram flour, crushed dried coconut, roasted peanut powder, sesame seeds, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, lemon juice, sugar and salt. Mix well. Add some oil and prepare the stuffing.
  3. Stuff the masala inside the pointed gourd (parval).
  4. Heat oil in a kadhai and add cumin seeds, asafoetida and place the stuffed pointed gourd (parval). Close lid and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Now add the remaining masala and turn the pointed gourds (parval). Close lid and cook the other side. Bharela Parval nu Shaak is ready.
