Palak Mag Nu Shaak - Traditional Gujarati Recipe of Spinach & Moong Dal

  • 500 Grams Finely Chopped Spinach ( Palak )
  • ¾ Cup Soaked Moong Dal
  • 2 Finely Chopped Onions
  • 1 Finely Chopped Tomato
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 8-10 Finely Chopped Garlic Cloves (Lehsun)
  • 1-1.5 Inch Finely chopped Ginger (Adrak)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
  1. Heat oil and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, chopped garlic cloves, chopped ginger and stir well.
  2. Add finely chopped onions and stir till they turn golden brown.
  3. Add chopped tomato and sauté it well.
  4. Add turmeric powder, dhana jeera powder, red chilli powder and soaked moong dal. Stir well.
  5. Add finely chopped spinach and mix well.
  6. Close lid and cook for 3-5 minutes.
  7. Add salt as per taste and mix well. Close lid and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  8. Palak Mag Nu Shaak is ready.
