Kulcha - Try out this Amritsari Kulcha Recipe at Home - Punjabi Cuisine

Recipe:
Ingredients:
  • 2 Cups of Plain Flour (Maida)
  • ½ Cup of Curd (Dahi)
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • ½ Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • Salt
  • 2-3 Teaspoons Oil
  • Black Sesame Seeds (Til)
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Water
Procedure:
  1. Take plain flour and add sugar, baking powder, salt, oil and curd. Mix well.
  2. Add water and knead a smooth dough. Apply some oil to the prepared dough to make it smooth.
  3. Let it rest for 1 hour.
  4. Now take a portion of the dough, dip it in plain flour and roll it into an oval shaped kulcha.
  5. Add some black sesame seeds and coriander leaves over the kulcha and again roll it slightly so that the ingredients stick to the Kulcha.
  6. Turn the Kulcha and apply some water.
  7. Place the wet side of Kulcha on the iron tawa and roast it. [ Note: Iron tawa is preferable for this recipe].
  8. Once bubbles start to appear on the Kulcha turn the tawa upside down and roast the Kulcha directly on the flame. Keep the flame medium to high.
  9. Roast till the Kulcha becomes brown. Apply some butter and Kulcha is ready to eat.
