Kachi Keri Nu Shaak - A Tasty Recipe of Raw Mangoes by Gujarati Rasoi

In this mango season we would like to present khatu meethu keri nu shaak. This keri nu shaak recipe is prepared from Totapuri Mangoes which are ideal for this recipe. This recipe is prepared from raw mangoes and with some traditional Indian spices. For sweetness we have used sugar but you can also use jaggery. Ingredients:
  • 2-3 Totapuri Raw Mangoes ( Kaccha Aam)
  • 2 Tablespoons Grated Coconut (Nariyal)
  • Paste of 2 Onions
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoon Ginger Garlic (Adrak Lehsun) Paste
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1.5 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • ¾ Teaspoon Cinnamon (Dalchini) Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Cardamom (Elaichi) Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Black Salt (Kala Namak)
  • 2-3 Teaspoons Sugar
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. Heat oil and add cumin seeds, asafoetida and ginger garlic paste. Stir well.
  2. Add onion paste and stir till it turns golden  brown.
  3. Add grated coconut and roast it well.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cinnamon powder and cardamom powder. Mix well.
  5. Add chopped totapuri raw mangoes, salt, black salt and sugar. Mix well.
  6. Close lid and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add water and stir well. Let is cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  8. Garnish with some coriander leaves and keri nu shaak is ready.
