Ingredients:
  • 2 Cups of Rice
  • ¾ Cup of Tur Dal
  • 2 Chopped Potatoes
  • 100 Grams Green Peas (Matar)
  • 1-2 Lengthwise Chopped Carrots (Gajar)
  • 100 Grams Chopped Spring Onions
  • 3-4 Finely Chopped Green Chilies (Hari Mirch)
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoons Ginger-Garlic (Adrak-Lehsun) Paste
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds (Rai)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • 2-3 Dried Red Chilies (Sukhi Lal Mirch)
  • 3-4 Black Peppercorns (Sabut Kali Mirch)
  • 3-4 Cloves (Laung)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoon Red Chili (Lal Mirch Powder) Powder
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Dal Shaak Masala
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Ghee
Procedure:
  1. Heat ghee and mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dried red chilies, black peppercorns and cloves. Stir well.
  2. Add chopped spring onions and stir it well.
  3. Now add finely chopped green chilies, ginger garlic paste and sauté it well.
  4. Add carrots, green peas and potatoes. Stir them well in ghee.
  5. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, dhana jeera powder and dal shaak masala. Mix well.
  6. Add some coriander leaves, mixture of rice and tur dal. Mix well.
  7. Add salt and water. Mix well.
  8. Close lid & cook for 3-4 whistles.
  9. Kathywawadi masala khichdi is ready. Top it with some ghee and serve it with pickle and papad.
