Gathiya Nu Shaak | Kathyawadi Recipes | Gujarati Rasoi

Gathiya is a popular Gujarati Farsan recipe. Using bhavnagri gathiya we will today make Gathiya nu shaak. In this gathiya recipe we will be using chaas to give it a nice sour taste. This recipe is very quick to make and requires minimum ingredients. This recipe of gathiya consists of a tomato and onion based gravy.   • Gathiya
  • 2-2.5 Cups of Buttermilk (Chaas)
  • 2 Chopped Onions
  • 2 Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds (Rai)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 2 Dried Red Chillies (Sukhi Lal Mirch)
  • 8-10 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • 2 Teaspoon Ginger-Garlic (Adrak-Lehsun)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. Heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, dried red chillies and ginger-garlic paste. Sauté it well.
  2. Add chopped onions and stir till it turns golden brown.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and sauté them well.
  4. Add turmeric powder, dhana jeera powder, red chilli powder and stir well.
  5. Add buttermilk and mix well.
  6. Before serving add gathiyas and some coriander leaves.
  7. Gathiya Nu Shaaak is ready.
