Choli Nu Shaak | Gujarati Wedding Recipe | Gujarati Rasoi

Choli or Chawli is a very nutritious pulse and should be included in our daily diet. This traditional Gujarati Choli Nu Shaak recipe is very simple to make and can be an excellent recipe for lunch or for tiffins. In this recipe boiled black eyed pea (Choli) is cooked with traditional Gujarati spices and gram flour to give it a nice texture. This recipe is often prepared during Gujarati wedding.   • 250 Grams Boiled Black Eyed Pea (Chawli)
  • 2 Tablespoons Gram Flour (Besan)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • 1 Teaspoon Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
  • 2 Dried Red Chillies (Sukhi Lal Mirch)
  • 8-10 Curry Leaves (Kaddi Patta)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 2 Teaspoons Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoons Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Dried Mango Powder (Amchur)
  • ½ Teaspoon Jaggery (Gud)
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Water
Procedure:
  1. Heat oil and add cumin seeds, carom seeds, dried red chillies and curry leaves. Stir well.
  2. Add gram flour and roast it well.
  3. Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, dhana jeera powder and stir well.
  4. Add boiled black eyed pea and mix well.
  5. Add dried mango powder, jaggery, salt and water. Mix well.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add some coriander leaves and Gujarati Choli Nu Shaak is ready.
