Vaal Nu Shaak | Traditional Gujarati Recipe | Gujarati Rasoi

Vaal Nu Shaak is a traditional and an old Gujarati recipe. This is a nutritious and a tasty recipe. This recipe is often prepared in Gujarati Wedding Functions. Recipe: Ingredients:
  • 250 Grams Boiled Butter Beans (Vaal)
  • 1 Tablespoon Gram Flour (Besan)
  • 1 Teaspoon Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-1½ Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1½ -2 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 1-1.5 Kitchen King Masala
  • 2-3 Teaspoons Tamarind Water
  • 1 Teaspoon Jaggery (Gud)
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Water
Procedure:
  1. Heat oil and add carom seeds, asafoetida, gram flour and fry well.
  2. Add turmeric powder, dhana jeera powder, red chilli powder and mix well.
  3. Add butter beans (vaal) & stir well.
  4. Add water used to boil vaal and stir well.
  5. Add tamarind water, jaggery, salt and kitchen king masala.
  6. Close lid and cook for 3-5 minutes.
  7. Add some coriander leaves and mix well. Vaal Nu Shaak is ready to eat.
