Mohanthal Recipe | Diwali Special Recipe | Gujarati Rasoi

Mohanthal is a popular Gujarati sweet recipe which if often prepared on festive occasion like Diwali. This Diwali Sweet recipe is prepared from gram flour and pure desi ghee.   • 2 Cups of Coarse Gram Flour (Besan)
  • ¼ Cup Milk
  • ¼ Cup Ghee
For cooking:
  • 1 Cup of Ghee
  • For Sugar Syrup:
  • ¾ Cup of Sugar
  • ½ Cup of Water
  • ½ Teaspoon Cinnamon (Elaichi) Powder
  • Saffron (Kesar)
For Garnish:
  • Chopped Pistachios (Pista)
  • Chopped Almonds (Badam)
Procedure:
  1. In coarse gram flour add milk and ghee. Mix it well.
  2. Now pass the mixture through a sieve.
  3. Now heat 1 cup of ghee in a kadhai and add the sieved mixture.
  4. Stir the mixture continuously till it becomes golden brown and the ghee separates out. Stir it on a low flame patiently.
  5. Now in a deep bottomed utensil, take sugar and water and prepare the sugar syrup. Add cinnamon powder and saffron. Stir well.
  6. Prepare a sugar syrup of two threads and pour it in the roasted flour mixture.
  7. Mix well and then pour this mixture in a greased plate to set.
  8. Top it with chopped pistachios and almonds and let it set for 2-3 hours.
  9. Cut the Mohanthal into square pieces. Mohanthal is ready to eat.

    1. You cannot make normal besan coarse, normal besan is very fine powder. You need to buy it from provision store

    2. you can.. take besan add few drops of milk and rub it slowly add again few drops and rub it slowly total of total of one spoon for one cup besan,

      when it dries it becomes lumpy then sieve in siever ... coarse besen will be ready
      I made it this way!
