Dudhi Batata Nu Shaak | Gujarati Shaak Recipe | Gujarati Rasoi

Dudhi Batata Nu Shaak is a Gujarati recipe in which bottle gourd and potatoes are cooked in traditional Gujarati spices and masalas. This recipe is without onion and garlic and hence it is a pure Jain Recipe. This Jain Dudhi Recipe can be a good recipe for lunch boxes and tiffins. Recipe: Ingredients:
  • 250 Grams Diced Bottle Gourd (Dudhi)
  • 3-4 Diced Potatoes
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds (Rai)
  • ¼ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 10-12 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • 2-2.5 Teaspoon Green Chilli-Garlic (Hari Mirch-Lehsun) Paste
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1.5-2 Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Dal Shaak Masala
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. Heat oil and add mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves and potatoes.
  2. Stir the potatoes well.
  3. Add bottle gourd and mix well. Close lid and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add green chilli-garlic paste and stir well.
  5. Add turmeric powder, dhana jeera powder, red chilli powder, dal shaak masala and salt as per taste. Mix well.
  6. Cook for 3-5 minutes on a low flame with closed lid.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  8. Dudhi Bateta Nu Shaak is ready.
