Dal Pakwan | Yummy Street Food | Gujarati Rasoi

Dal Pakwan is a popular Sindhi recipe which is now a popular street food. This chatapata recipe consists of pakwan or hard puri served with dal cooked with some traditional Indian spices. Dal Pakwan can be an excellent dinner recipe as it is a quick recipe and can be enjoyed by everyone. Recipe: Ingredients: For Dal:
  • 250 Grams Boiled Chana Dal
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 3-4 Lengthwise Chopped Green Chillies (Hari Mirch)
  • 10-12 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • ¾ Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 Teaspoon Dried Mango (Amchur) Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Black Pepper (Kali Mirch) Powder
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Ghee
For Pakwan:
  • 2 Cups of All Purpose Flour (Maida)
  • 1 Cup Semolina (Rava)
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
  • ½ Teaspoon Black Pepper (Kali Mirch) Powder
  • 3 Teaspoons Lukewarm Oil
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
For Serving:
  • Chopped Onions
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
Procedure:
  1. Heat some ghee and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, chopped green chillies and stir well.
  2. Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala and mix well.
  3. Add boiled chana dal and mix well.
  4. Cook the dal till it starts to boil.
  5. Now add dried mango powder, black pepper powder, salt and mix well.
  6. Add some coriander leaves and dal is ready.
  7. For Pakwan in all purpose flour, add semolina, cumin seeds, carom seeds, black pepper powder, salt and lukewarm oil to it. Mix well.
  8. Add water and knead the dough.
  9. Now take some portion of the dough and roll out a puri.
  10. Prick the puri with a fork to prevent it to be fluffy.
  11. Deep fry these puris till they are crisp. Our Pakwans are ready.
  12. Serve the pakwan on a plate, pour some dal, chopped onions and coriander leaves.
  13. Dal Pakwan is ready.
