Sharad Punam is a very auspicious occasion in Gujarati culture. On this occasion Dudh Pauva and Bataka Vadas are made. These delicacies are enjoyed on terrace or Agasi as referred in Gujarati. The taste of Dudh Pauva full with dry fruits under the full moon of Punam is a different affair to enjoy. So on the occasion of Sharad Punam we would like to bring you the Gujarati traditional sweet recipe of Doodh Pauva. Recipe: Ingredients:
  • ½ Litre Milk
  • 1 ½ Cup of Soaked Flattened Rice (Poha)
  • ½ Cup Sugar
  • ½ Teaspoon Cardamom (Elaichi) Powder
  • Chopped Cashews (Kaju)
  • Chopped Pistachios (Pista)
  • Saffron
Procedure:
  1. Heat milk and dissolve sugar in it.
  2. Add saffron which has been soaked in hot milk. Mix well.
  3. Refrigerate the milk and let it cool down.
  4. Now add flattened rice (poha) to it and mix well.
  5. Add cardamom powder, chopped cashew nuts and chopped pistachios.
  6. Doodh Pauva is ready to eat.
