Vatana Bateta Nu Shaak is very popular in Gujarati culture. In this recipe we have prepared the everyday sabji of Vatana Bateta in a different way and with some different masalas. You can enjoy this Vatana Bateta Nu Shaak with phulkas or even bhakris. Recipe: Ingredients:
  • 250-300 Grams of Green Peas (Matar)
  • 2 Medium Sized Chopped Potatoes
  • 2 Finely Chopped Onions
  • Puree of 2 Tomatoes
  • ½ Cup Cream (Malai)
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoons of Ginger Garlic (Adrak Leshun) Paste
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafetida (Hing)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 2 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 Teaspoon Dried Fenugreek Leaves (Kasuri Methi)
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Water
Procedure:
  1. Heat oil and in a pressure cooker add cumin seeds, asafetida and finely chopped onions. Stir till the onions become golden brown.
  2. Now add ginger-garlic paste and stir well.
  3. Add tomato puree, cream and mix well.
  4. Add turmeric powder, dhana jeera powder, red chilli powder and garam masala. Mix well.
  5. Add kasuri methi & stir well.
  6. Add chopped potatoes, green peas and salt. Mix well for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Add water as per requirement & mix well.
  8. Close the lid & pressure cook for 1-2 whistles.
  9. Vatana Bateta NU Shaak is ready.
