Makai Na Dhokla | Gujarati Dhokla Recipe | Gujarati Rasoi

Dhokla is a popular Gujarati farsan recipe. This recipe is also a popular street food. Makai Na Dhokla is a unique dhokla recipe which has the sweet taste of corn which blends well with the spiciness of the green dhokla chutney. Dhoklas are an integral part of the Gujarati Thali. Recipe: Ingredients:
  • Paste of 250 Grams of Corn (Makai)
  • 1 Cup Semolina (Rava)
  • ½ Cup of Curd (Dahi)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Green Chilli-Ginger (Hari Mirch-Adrak) Paste
  • Juice of ½ Lemon
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-2 Teaspoon Oil
  • 1 Packet Eno
  • Water
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
For Tadka:
  • 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds (Rai)
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 8-10 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • 2-3 Lengthwise Chopped Green Chillies (Hari Mirch)
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. In a mixing bowl, take semolina, curd, corn paste and mix well.
  2. Add turmeric powder, green chilli-ginger paste, lemon juice, oil and salt.
  3. Add a packet of Eno and some water. Stir very well.
  4. In a cooker take some water, place a stand and on that stand place a greased deep bottomed utensil (You can use cake mould).
  5. In this utensil pour the Dhokla mixture and steam it for 20-25 minutes without whistle.
  6. Once ready cut dhoklas into square pieces.
  7. For the tadka heat some oil, add mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves and chopped green chillies.
  8. Pour this tadka over the Dhoklas and garnish it with coriander leaves.
  9. 9. Makai Na Dhokla is ready to eat.
