Kaccha Kela Nu Shaak | Gujarati Shaak Recipe | Gujarati Rasoi

This unique vegetarian recipe is prepared using raw bananas and is cooked in traditional spices. This recipe can be an excellent dinner recipe. In this recipe raw bananas are shallow fried and are cooked in onion-tomato based gravy with some curd. Addition of kasuri methi to this recipe gives a different taste to raw bananas.   • 6-7 Sliced Raw Bananas
  • ½ Cup Curd (Dahi)
  • Puree of 2 Tomatoes
  • 1 Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoon Ginger-Garlic (Adrak-Lehsun) Paste
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1-2 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • Some Dried Fenugreek (Kasuri Methi)
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. Shallow fry the sliced bananas.
  2. Now heat some oil in another utensil and add cumin seeds, asafoetida and finely chopped onion. Stir till it turns golden brown.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté it well.
  4. Add curd & stir well.
  5. Add tomato puree & mix well.
  6. Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, dhana jeera powder, garam masala & mix well.
  7. Add the shallow fried bananas, salt & water. Mix well.
  8. Close lid & cook for 3-5 minutes.
  9. Add sugar if required and dried fenugreek. Mix well.
  10. Close lid & cook for 2 minutes.
  11. Kaccha Kela Nu Shaak is ready.
