Dhokli Nu Shaak | Gujarati Shaak | Gujarati Rasoi

Dhokli Nu Shaak is a traditional Kathyawadi recipe which consists of Dhoklis cooked in curd based gravy with some Gujarati spices. Dhoklis are prepared from gram flour and water with some spices. Dhokli Nu Shaak has a nice sour and spicy taste. This Kahtywadi recipe is easy to make and can be a good dinner recipe for your famlily. Recipe: Ingredients: For Dhoklis:
  • 1 Cup of Gram Flour (Besan)
  • 2.5 Cups of Water
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1 Teaspoon Oil
  • Salt
For Gravy:
  • 1 Cup of Curd (Dahi)
  • 3-4 Dried Red Chillies (Sukhi Lal Mirch)
  • 8-10 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • 2-2.5 Teaspoons Garlic (Lehsun) Chutney
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
  • Oil
Procedure:
  1. For making dhoklis heat water, add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, dhana jeera, asafoetida and oil. Mix and stir till the water boils.
  2. Add gram flour and stir till it thickens.
  3. Close lid and cook for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Once the mixture is cooked, pour it in a greased plate and flatten it.
  5. Let it cool down.
  6. Meanwhile, for the gravy heat some oil and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, dried red chillies, curry leaves and stir well.
  7. Add garlic chutney and stir well.
  8. Add curd and mix well.
  9. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, dhana jeera and mix well.
  10. Add water as per requirement and salt as per taste.
  11. Close lid and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  12. Now cut the cooled dhoklis and add to the gravy.
  13. Garnish with some coriander leaves and Kathyawadi Dhokli Nu Shaak is ready to eat.
