Bharela Karela | Gujarati Shaak Recipe | Gujarati Rasoi

Karela or Bitter Gourd is not loved by everyone but it is very nutritious and necessary for our health. To make the bitter Karela tasty, we would like to present Bharela Karela Nu Shaak. In this recipe Bitter Gourd is stuffed with a masala consisting of coconut, peanuts and some traditional Guajarati masalas. This recipe is very tasty to eat and is enjoyed with hot Phulkas. Recipe: Ingredients:
  • Bitter Gourds
  • ½ Cup Grinded Dried Coconut (Sukha Nariyal)
  • ½ Cup Roasted Peanut (Singdana) Powder
  • 2 Teaspoons Garlic (Lehsun) Paste
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
  • 1-1.5 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
  • 1.5-2 Teaspoon Red Chilli (Lal Mirch) Powder
  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
  • Salt
Procedure:
  1. In a mixing bowl, take some grinded dried coconut, roasted peanut powder, turmeric powder, dhana jeera powder, red chilli powder, lemon juice, garlic paste, sugar, salt and coriander leaves. Mix it well.
  2. Remove the stem of the bitter gourds, peel them, make a slit and remove the seeds.
  3. Stuff the previously made masala stuffing in it.
  4. Heat some oil and put the stuffed bitter gourds in it to cook.
  5. Cook with closed lid for 3-5 minutes on a medium flame.
  6. Flip the bitter gourds and cook the other side.
  7. Now add the remaining masala and stir well.
  8. Cook for 2-3 minutes with closed lid.
  9. Bharela Karela Nu Shaak is ready.
