Lasaniya Bataka is a popular Kathyawadi recipe consisting of red hot chillies, a generous amount of garlic and fried potatoes. The potatoes are stir fried to give them a nice golden colour and crispy taste. These crisped potatoes are then cooked in some spices, red chillies and fresh garlic cloves. Along with potatoes, to give a tangy taste we have added some tomatoes and some onions to give the potato recipe a nice blend of onion flavour.   • 250 Grams Boiled Baby Potatoes
  • 1 Chopped Onion
  • 2 Chopped Tomatoes
  • 2 Dried Red Chillies
  • 15-20 Garlic Cloves
  • 10-12 Chopped Garlic Cloves
  • 1 Inch Ginger
  • 2 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  • 2 Teaspoon Coriander-Cumin Seed Powder (Dhana Jeera)
  • ½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 3 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • ½ Teaspoon Asafoetida
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Salt
Method –
  1. Make a paste of 2 tomatoes, 15-20 Garlic cloves, 1 inch ginger, 2 teaspoon red chilli powder, 2 teaspoon coriander seed-cumin seed powder, 1 teaspoon cumin seeds and some salt.
  2. Heat oil and a teaspoon of cumin seeds and stir fry the boiled baby potatoes. Top it with some coriander leaves.
  3. Take out the potatoes and keep aside
  4. Now for the masala in the same oil, add a teaspoon of cumin seeds, ½ teaspoon asafoetida, 2 dried red chillies and 10-12 chopped garlic cloves.
  5. Add chopped onions and stir till it turns golden brown.
  6. Now add turmeric powder, previously prepared paste and mix well.
  7. Add water as per requirement and salt as per taste.
  8. Add the fried potatoes and cook well for 3-5 minutes.
  9. Top with some fresh coriander leaves and Kathyawadi Lasaniya Bataka is ready to eat.
