Basundi | Gujarati Sweet Recipe | Gujarati Rasoi

Basundi is a traditional Gujarati Sweet recipe which is often served during festivals or during traditional Guajrati ceremonies. Basundi is prepared by thickening the milk and then adding some dry fruits and saffron. Recipe: Ingredients –
  • 1 Litre Milk
  • ¾ Cup Sugar
  • ½ Teaspoon Cardamom Powder (Elaichi)
  • Saffron
  • 8-10 Chopped Almonds
  • 10-12 Chopped Pistachios
  • 10-12 Chopped Cashews
Method –
  1. Heat a litre of milk till it reduces to half and thickens. This process will take at least 45-60 minutes.
  2. Now reduce the flame and add saffron, chopped almonds, chopped pistachios, chopped cashews and stir well.
  3. Now add sugar and let the sugar melt.
  4. Add cardamom powder and switch off the gas.
  5. Basundi is ready.
