Pooran Poli is a traditional Maharashtrain Recipe often made on occasions like Bail Pola, Holi, Ganesh Chaturthi and on other auspicious days. Pooran Poli consists of a filling of chana dal and jaggery or sugar which is simmered on low heat and then filled in wheat based dough and rolled into a chapatti.   • 500 Grams of Chana Dal
  • 300 Grams Sugar
  • Wheat Dough
  • ¼ Teaspoon Dried Ginger Powder (Sonth)
  • ¼ Teaspoon Nutmeg (Jaiphal) Powder
  • ¼ Teaspoon Cardamom (Elaichi) Powder
Method –
  1. Boil and drain chana dal and then add it to a kadhai.
  2. Add sugar and mix until the mixture dries.
  3. Add sonth, elaichi powder and jayphal powder. Mix well.
  4. Now pass the hot mixture through a sieve.
  5. Take a small portion from the wheat dough, dust it with some flour and make a small bowl shape to fill the pooran (filling).
  6. Put the filling inside the dough and close the ends of the dough.
  7. Flatten the dough and then roll it into a poli i.e chapatti.
  8. Roast the poli on a tawa with some ghee.
  9. Puran Poli is ready.
